We hope you had a restful weekend and were able to get outside and enjoy this perfect weather. Encourage your child to write about one experience from your weekend to write about. Ask them to elaborate and add details to get the details just write... I mean right. Perhaps instead of writing they would like to draw, label and caption a picture. Add in some speech bubbles and the picture becomes a story. The children can jot their stories in their homework notebooks and you can bet we will enjoy reading each and every story or piece of art!

Writing Food for thought: Each night consider each question to respond to in your Homework Notebook:
1) What am I good at in school? 2) What do I struggle with in school? 3) What are my school goals for the week?
Log every night please. As you read start looking for consonant blends in words and practice blending or sliding words together. This week we are looking at the beginning consonant blend: “bl”. Can you spot others like: “br” in breeze or “gr” in grow? Have fun reading! To review the short vowels which some children struggle with repeat this easy chant nightly: “A” apple At; “E” Elephant Ed; “I” igloo, it; “O” octopus, ox; “U” umbrella, up
